Nearly 10 million children under five die each year. Malnutrition plays a role in over half of these deaths. 20 million babies a year are born with low birth weight and need nourishment to grow healthy and strong. If you would like to help feed these vulnerable children, give an Inspired Gift this holiday season.
Plumpy Nut Therapeutic Nutrition is a new, high-protein food paste. Three packs a day can save the life of a malnourished child. First used in Darfur, Sudan, Plumpy Nut reduced malnutrition there by over 50 percent. For $68, you can feed ten children for one whole month.
Other gifts that nourish include High Energy/Protein Biscuits, which are used in emergency situations to quickly provide nourishment to young children. And when breastfeeding is not an option, therapeutic milk helps a baby grow . Finally, an infant scale can help monitor a child's growth and keep illness at bay.

I just got the personalized cards for my gifts in the mail and I'm sending them out to my clients today. I couldn't resist but when I was at the checkout, I also got a gift of some oral re-hydration kits for my son. Even though he's too young to truly understand, I want him to feel somehow included in our 'giving' spirit of christmas and it'll give us the chance to talk about what it means when he finds the card in his stocking.
I think what's great about the way inspired gifts is set up, is that it's done truly in their name and not just a lump sum donated by my company that they're not included in. I'm looking forward to hearing from them as I'm sure it'll cause some talk around their offices since it's not just another basket or bottle of wine. I hope it will help signal change and serve as something of a reminder (as it's done for me) that we all can help, even with tiny steps.
Thanks for making this possible AND giving me a great new idea for annual client giving AND for making me feel a part of your amazing philanthropic work.

What I love about "Inspired Gifts" on top of what those gifts can make in children's lives is that the people who shop the "Inspired Gifts" really know what their money will buy and the effect they'll have on children's lives. You know what you purchase. Real products. I think people will feel more connected because usually people always say: ...where the money goes, how will it be distributed,.... Here we have the specific choice of what we want as for our priority and what we want to give. We have a bit more control of our money. That will maybe attract other people that are not yet supporting UNICEF to do so.
