Back-to-School with UNICEF
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s Education Department would like to wish teachers and students the best of luck this academic year. We hope to be a vital part of the school year as you explore international issues that UNICEF and its partners address.
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF provides a variety of tools for teachers and students to learn about global issues and to take action, such as:
TeachUNICEF is a portfolio of UNICEF-focused resources designed and collected by the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s Education Department for educators, afterschool instructors, and parents. TeachUNICEF resources cover grades PK-12, are interdisciplinary, and align with national standards. The units, lesson plans, stories, videos, and podcasts include items such as the Millennium Development Goals and Water and Sanitation. TeachUNICEF also offers interested youth and teachers an opportunity to take action by utilizing service tips and participating in U.S. Fund for UNICEF sponsored activities, such as the Trick-or-Treat program and UNICEF Tap. This year TeachUNICEF has a new look, you can check it out at www.teachunicef.org.
A UNICEF High School Club can affirm the power of young people to make a major difference and help UNICEF save children’s lives. UNICEF High School Clubs are a youth-led initiative that partners with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to educate, advocate and fundraise on behalf of UNICEF’s lifesaving work. Educators can help to identify students who might be interested and can also act as the club’s facilitator.
Again, we wish you the best of luck with the 2010-2011 academic year.
