Like many people today, I use email and Facebook to stay connected with friends and family through most of the year. But sending and receiving Holiday Greeting Cards is one of my favorite holiday traditions and one that I cherish the most. Since I live a couple of thousand miles away from my family (7,315 miles to be precise), sending holiday cards is a special way to let them know I am thinking of them.
Cards are paper, ink and words–but Holiday Cards are special. I grew up with UNICEF Holiday cards, and as a child I never imagined that one day I would have the opportunity to work for that very program.
There are many stories that show why UNICEF Holiday cards are a special tradition for many. Thomas Ryle is a seasonal associate at Pier 1 Imports. His co-workers Angelic Pacheco and Teresa Schroer wrote us to tell us what a pleasure it is to see him in action. Ryle approaches customers and says, ” Let me show you the best thing at Pier 1 Imports today” and then proceeds to share details of what a UNICEF Greeting Card can do for kids, what his 22,000 button stands for and how the customer can help. Thomas is an inspiration–a believer in making a difference in childrens’ lives and about the true meaning of the Holidays.
