Update: earthquake in Myanmar
On Friday Myanmar state radio announced that 74 people had been killed in Thursday’s earthquakes and 111 injured, but was updating the total frequently. The 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Myanmar, near the borders with China, Thailand and Laos and was followed shortly after by a smaller quake.
UNICEF has an active presence in Myanmar and was a frontline emergency responder for children in the 2008 cyclone that killed 100,000 people.
We will continue to update FieldNotes with news from Myanmar.
