More than $5 Million Raised for K.I.N.D.

Three years ago, while visiting Malawi, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell noticed that children were lacking one of the fundamentals of the schoolhouse experience: chairs and desks. So he partnered with UNICEF to start K.I.N.D.: Kids in Need of Desks. The program raises money to build desks and chairs for rural schools in Malawi. In just three years, the K.I.N.D. Fund has raised more than $5 million. Watch the video below to hear Lawrence O’Donnell speak about K.I.N.D. and announce an exciting new phase of the program, which will give all children in Malawi an equal chance at an education.

What a fantastic program! I cannot believe that children were sitting on floors in their school. And how wonderful that it’ll soon be easier for girls to attend school. Education is so important!

God bless Lawrence O’Donnell and the KIND Organization. Good luck and God speed to ‘Kids In Need of Desks’ in 2013 and beyond. O’Donnell saw a human need, and he made himself a catalyst for the change that he wanted to see take place in the world. He made his will to do good into a way forward.
