Watch Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra's Haiyan Video

For Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra, who won his second consecutive NBA championship in June, the crisis in the Philippines is personal.

Spoelstra’s mother is from the Philippines, and he has visited the country many times to see family and friends and host basketball clinics for kids and coaches.

"This is the absolute least I can do. You feel helpless, want to be able to do more," said Spoelstra.

Through NBA Cares, Spoelstra appeared in a public service announcement that aired on ESPN and will continue to be broadcast to support the U.S. Fund's effort to help the 4.6 million children affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

The video is part of a concerted effort by the NBA family to help UNICEF aid children and families in the Philippines. The NBA and the NBA Players Association announced a $250,000 donation to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF on Sunday in support of UNICEF's emergency relief efforts. Maraming salamat po!
