Champions for Children - American Airlines

Thanks a Million+, American Airlines employees and customers for supporting UNICEF!

Today at the Chicago International Airport we celebrated a great achievement:  the employees and customers of American Airlines helped raise over $1 million in donations through UNICEF’s Change for Good on American Airlines program in 2013 for the fifth consecutive year!  We celebrated this milestone at an exhibit area which was open to both employees and customers who had the opportunity throughout the day to learn more about the program, enjoy refreshments, get their photo taken on a logo wall and post it to social media for a chance to win one of 20 one-day Admirals Club passes in appreciation for their support of the program, and more.

Champions with certificate

American Airlines and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF have been working together to save and improve children’s lives by creating an opportunity for American‘s employees to get involved in a unique on-the-job volunteer experience through UNICEF’s Change for Good program. Now in its 20th year, UNICEF’s Change for Good program on American Airlines is one of American’s largest and longest-running employee-led charitable programs, in which customers’ donations of unused currency are converted into lifesaving services for the world’s children. “Champions for Children” is a volunteer program designed to empower flight attendants, Admirals Club staff and other American Airlines employees to encourage customers on selected international American Airlines flights to donate unused U.S. and foreign currencies, or to make donations in Admirals Clubs and Flagship Lounges worldwide.  More than 2,600 Champions are registered for the program. More than $9.75 million has been raised for UNICEF since Change for Good on American Airlines was launched in 1994.

Today the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and American Airlines also honored four Champions for Children who were nominated by their peers for the Change for Good Champions of the Year award, going above and beyond in their volunteer efforts in 2013: Aida Hall based out of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Sandy King based out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Paulette King based out of Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and Dianna Ventura based out of Boston Logan International Airport.

On behalf of the world’s children, Thanks a Million+ American Airlines employee volunteers and customers.
