The State of the World's Children report inspired me to increase my support to the U.S. Fund. I knew without a doubt that I could make a real difference in the lives of many children. And because I wanted to make sure the battle for children’s lives continued to be won long after I was gone, a few years later I named the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in my will. Please join me and become a member of the Danny Kaye Society by remembering the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in your will.

The post A world changing endeavor appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.

This photo essay depicts a cruel side of childhood -- but it is important to remember that UNICEF's mission is so much more serious than simply bringing a smile to a child's face. We hope that these images help you, our supporters, see the human face behind our firm belief in ZERO. In everything UNICEF does, the most vulnerable children and countries in greatest need are to be given the highest priority. By focusing on equity - aiding 'without discrimination because of race, creed, nationality, status or political belief' - we can and will reach a day when no child dies of a cause we know how to prevent.

The post 2011 in photos appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.

Take a look at this article from syndicated columnist, Amy Dickinson, who writes that, “Great charities are transparent, show donors where the money goes and don’t just claim how much of their money goes to programs, but report measurable outcomes. I check out all my recommendations on charitynavigator.org. All receive a top rating.”

Being able to witness UNICEF’s work in Honduras was very meaningful to me. I got involved and went on this trip because of my son-in-law, Matt, who encouraged our family to support UNICEF. Matt passed away recently, and our support for UNICEF is a memorial to him. I think he would be deeply proud of what is happening in Honduras.

The post Why I give: UNICEF’s work in Honduras appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.

Given the fact that I was walking around with milk cartons almost 40 years ago, it’s a pretty good bet that UNICEF will be around to help children for many years to come. This is why I have selected UNICEF as a beneficiary of my estate plan. Join me and become part of a group of dedicated individuals supporting the U.S. Fund for UNICEF through planned giving through estate and financial plans.

I end where I began, with gratitude for all of you who stay informed, donate, spread the word and offer prayers, thoughts and love to the children affected. When each of us gives a little bit of ourselves, we become part of something very powerful. Collectively, we are making it possible for children to survive the unimaginable. “Thank you” is not enough. The lives saved are the reward we all share.

The post Caryl Stern: Thank you is not enough appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.

Our family has committed a pledge of US$1 million to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to fight MNT to save and protect thousands of children like Dani. We believe The Eliminate Project is our calling and could not find a better reason to stretch ourselves and give. We are honored to be asked to get involved and excited to commit our own resources to support Kiwanis and UNICEF's partnership to eliminate MNT.
