I was in Haiti with an amazing UNICEF team to see the effects of the earthquake and the UNICEF programs that are helping children and their communities with the long-term recovery efforts. The power of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti hit home as we arrived in Champs de Mars, the center of Port-au-Prince. In the first days of my trip seeing the effects of the earthquake on the city and the people, it all seemed so overwhelming, an impossible situation. How could you help? Where would you even begin? However, as the days go by, a little light starts to glimmer through. Bit by bit, UNICEF is making progress.

Often times, professional athletes aren’t recognized for their altruistic deeds off-the-field. UNICEF Ambassador and LA Laker, Pau Gasol, bears no exception to the rule. GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter, Lenny Kravitz, is supporting the global push by supporting the UNICEF Tap Project to help save and improve the lives of millions of children around the world by providing them with access to clean water and adequate sanitation.

On Friday, February 24, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF launched The UNICEF Experience at The Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas, Texas. A truly unique event, the UNICEF Experience showcased UNICEF’s lifesaving work through interactive exhibits, allowing guests to experience what vulnerable children in developing countries face just to survive. The UNICEF Experience was a special opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the world’s children, all without leaving Dallas.
