On Monday, Selena traveled to the coastal city of Valparaiso with UNICEF. There, she met with some of Chile’s poorest women. No doubt they were once full of hope as children. As they matured, poverty brought indignities that would challenge the strongest among us. With soft, tremoring voices, they told Selena how much it mean that she had traveled such distance to meet them. They thanked UNICEF for helping them find their way out of poverty so they can provide for their children.

One year after the earthquake in Haiti, UNICEF USA is launching a unique project that aims at ensuring the children of Haiti are at the forefront of rebuilding efforts. Through the social media enabled micro-site , UNICEF USA gives compassionate people a chance to take tangible action and send heartfelt messages to the children of Haiti year round.
