Last month, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF hosted four regional student summits in different locations across the country. U.S. Fund for UNICEF student leaders came together to share challenges, successes and best practices for effectively educating, advocating and fundraising for UNICEF in their local communities. The summits took place in Houston, Los Angeles, Washington and Chicago. Over 400 UNICEF High School and Campus Initiative students participated in the summits, doubling the attendance of last year’s New York summit.

The post The 2012 UNICEF Student Summits appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.

Students and faculty from the Art Center College of Design will spend six weeks this fall conducting fieldwork at the UNICEF Innovation Lab in Uganda as part of a new master’s program focused on design for social impact. To prepare for this first
on-the-ground engagement, the students have been studying a variety of subjects and methods. Through the collaboration with the UNICEF team in Uganda, the group will explore what happens when design is informed by local expertise, co-created with local partners, and gets out of the way when appropriate.

The post Exploring Design at the UNICEF Innovation Lab in Uganda appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.

Riley’s teacher, Ms. Germano, and her fellow third grade teachers have been raising funds for Trick or Treat for UNICEF for the past 8 years.
It's not too late!

As a reminder, we have extended the deadline for applying to the Junior 8 Summit (J8). The deadline is April 17, at 5PM, this Friday! Applying for the J8 Summit is a great way to discuss global issues with your fellow students and think about real-world solutions that you can share with world leaders.

The 2009 essay topics include: climate change, HIV/AIDS, and an additional topic to be determined by each J8 team. The competition is for young people aged 14 to 17 to participate in the J8 Summit, a youth event convened this year in Italy and linked to the annual Group of 8 (G8) Summit.

To learn more, click here, if you have any questions please contact us. We look forward to receiving your submissions!

The post J8 competition deadline this Friday appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.

On March 15, families and kids from fourth to twelfth grade will carry up to a gallon of water in a gesture of solidarity with children who must fetch water every day. These students are helping fund UNICEF programs through sponsorships. And a little goes a long way! For example, with a dollar UNICEF can provide 40 liters of safe drinking water.

The post [Tap Project] Register for NYC Tap Project Water Walk for Kids! appeared first on UNICEF FieldNotes.
