Last month, I had the unique opportunity to be a part of the Franklin Park Zoo’s special programming for school vacation week. As a U.S. Fund for UNICEF Global Citizenship Fellow, I can’t think of a better way to teach young and old about the importance of water, and how to get involved with the UNICEF Tap Project.
Every day, nearly 4,000 children die from water-related illnesses. Today is World Water Day—please join the UNICEF Tap Project.

It’s World Water Month! And we are once again launching the UNICEF Tap Project. Since 2007, the Tap Project has raised more than $3.5 million to provide clean water to millions of children around the world. But this time around, we are doing things a little differently.
The UNICEF Tap Project now lives on its own Facebook app, making it even easier to join the campaign. You can quickly donate to, support, and share the Tap Project — turning your social network into a water network, and helping to provide clean water to children around the world!

Giorgio Armani Fragrances has returned to help children around the world get clean, safe water, as the National Sponsor of the UNICEF Tap Project. On March 1, for the fourth consecutive year, Giorgio Armani Fragrances launches its month-long “Acqua for Life” campaign. The campaign provides a number of ways for people across the country to join the company in raising funds to support UNICEF’s water, sanitation and hygiene programs for children.

Something as simple as access to safe water—which we often take for granted—can keep children from going to school. Not getting an education impacts a child’s entire life, often keeping him or her caught in the ongoing cycle of poverty.

March 25 marked the end of World Water Week as well as the sixth year of another very successful UNICEF Tap Project campaign. The UNICEF Tap Project is a dynamic movement that affords everyone the opportunity to help provide the world’s children with clean, safe water through a number of fundraising and volunteer activities. This award-winning campaign celebrates the clean water we enjoy for free on a daily basis by encouraging supporters to help UNICEF provide this vital resource to children in developing countries.

Hillside Elementary School began their work with the UNICEF Tap Project in 2009, to complement a year-long water curriculum, “Water, Water, Is It Really Everywhere? No.” This year, Hillside recruited 20 Needham area restaurants and two local businesses to join the fundraising efforts. They have performed their song and chant at eight restaurants, three assemblies and two sporting events accompanied by the Needham High School Cheerleaders.
